Frequently Asked Questions

Applying to rent a computer is like applying for any finance or loan in that it requires credit approval prior to purchase. Unlike traditional finance however, our rental options are more flexible in that you have the option to buy out at any time, or return (with no further obligations) after the 6 month minimum rental period. To apply, you need to have an acceptable credit standing (no bad debts) and a regular source of income.
The application is done online and includes an online login to your bank account where your statements will be electronically accessed for review. If all information is provided at the time of the application then approvals can be automatic within as little as 30 minutes. If an application requires a manual review (or you are unable to provide online banking integration) then rental staff will contact you during business hours to provide the necessary information or details to finish assessing your application.
You can rent any of our computers or laptops from $795 and above, as well as any accessories that would typically go with those items (such as keyboards, mice, monitors). We are unable to rent components or accessories on their own.
Rental rates (and buyout options) are provided on the PC configuration pages under the price – simply click on the “Studio 19” icon at the top for a list of rates. Alternatively, you can request a quote for pricing if there are multiple items you wish to combine on one agreement.
To keep things simple, payments are charged on a set date each month from a debit or credit card. If a payment date falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the payment will be processed on the following business day.
If you continue to rent for the maximum 36 months, we will contact you and help you finalise your agreement. However, please note that you don’t automatically own the gear. As it is a rental, there is always a one-off payment at the end to own the goods. The longer you rent, the smaller that payment becomes due to the item devaluing. For example, if you were to apply to buy at one month, the cost is very close to the original value of your item. Whereas, if you apply to buy at 36 months the cost is more likely to be around the value of one rental payment.
Simply return the equipment back to our store. Please note that any shipping charges are at your expense, however we can assist you with the provision of pre-paid shipping labels at a lower cost than traditional postage rates.
Missing a payment happens. If you anticipate your payment is going to bounce, let us know a business day beforehand and we will hold it for you. If we are unable to hold the payment for you, a $16 fee will be added to your account.
We offer an optional protection plan with most of our computers. Our protection plan is different from insurance and doesn’t cover every eventuality. It does protect you from accidental damage, fire and theft in Australia. The Studio 19 Customer Service team can provide you with more details and assist if you have any questions. Additionally, we recommend checking with your own insurance company, as your existing contents insurance may already extend coverage to your rentals.
Temporary Visa applicants can apply however there is a maximum rental limit of $79 per month ($1,500 sell price). You must have an Australian residential address, and your Visa must extend past the 6-month minimum rental period, and you must have an active Australian bank account.
There are two options to upgrade or expand a rented computer. (1) you return the rented computer provided the 6 month minimum rental period has expired and simply rent a new computer with the upgraded specification, or (2) you upgrade the computer at your expense with Crox, knowing that if you elect to return rather than buy-out the computer the upgrades are the property of the rental company. If you have retained the old parts Crox can assist you in returning the PC to the original configuration at the point of return for an additional charge.
